Ingresso al Louvre
L’ingresso ai Musei del Louvre avviene attraverso la Piramide di Ming Pei, struttura che si contende, con la Tour Eiffel, il primato di monumento più amato-odiato dai parigini.
Dalla piramide si ha accesso alle tre ali principali in cui è diviso il museo:
Sully, Richelieu e Denon ed ogni ala ha quattro piani: uno nel sottosuolo e tre fuori terra.
Queste tre aree principali, sono divise a loro volta in otto dipartimenti più piccoli, dove le opere sono divise in base alle seguenti categorie:
Antichità orientali. Antichità egiziane. Antichità greche, etrusche e romane, Arti dell’Islam, Sculture, Oggetti d’arte, Dipinti, Arti grafiche.
Ala Richelieu
Nelle sale dell’ala Richelieu, a sinistra dell’ingresso, e volte a Nord, si trovano le seguenti sale:
– Pittori francesi del XIV-XVII secolo.
– Pittori tedeschi, fiamminghi, olandesi, scuola del Nord.
– Oggetti d’arte del Medioevo, Rinascimento, XVII e XIX secolo.
– Appartamenti di Napoleone III, Sculture francesi, Iran antico, Mesopotamia.
– Arti dell’Islam e mostre temporanee.
Ala Sully
Nell’ala Sully, articolata intorno alla Cour Carré, si trova di fronte all’ingresso, ed ospita le seguenti sale:
– Pittori francesi XVII-XVIII-XIX secolo.
– Disegni e pastelli XVII-XVIII-XIX secolo.
– Oggetti d’arte XVII-XVIII secolo.
– Arte Greca, Arte Etrusca, Arte Romana.
– Egitto faraonico.
– Iran antico, Mondo arabo, Levante.
– Storia del Louvre e Louvre medievale, sale che illustrano con reperti, documenti e filmati la storia di questo grande museo dal 1793 anno della prima fondazione, alla nascita del Grand Louvre nel 1984; storia strettamente legata a quella della Francia, alle vicende politiche e alle trasformazioni che hanno caratterizzato il paese.

Ala Denon
Nell’ala Denon, a destra dell’ingresso, affacciate sulla Senna, si trovano le seguenti sale:
– Pittori italiani e spagnoli.
– Pittori francesi XIX secolo.
– Galleria d’Apollon, Diamanti della Corona.
– Sculture italiane, spagnole e dell’Europa del Nord.
– Grecia, Etruschi, Roma.
– Egitto romano, Egitto copto.
– Arte africana, asiatica, americana e dell’Oceania.
Pittori Italiani – Ala Denon – 1° piano
Qui si ha l’opportunità di ammirare opere dei pittori da Giotto, Carracci, Caravaggio, Raffaello,Tiziano, Cimabue e Veronese fino all’Ottocento.
Giotto è presente nelle sale 3 e 4 con il San Francesco che riceve le Stimmate,
Caravaggio è nella Sala 8, con la sua Morte della Vergine.
Di Raffaello (sala 7) si può ammirare il ritratto di Baldassarre Castiglione, San Giorgio e il Dragoe L’autoritratto con un amico.
Di Tiziano (sala 7) c’è il Concerto Campestre, Il trasporto di Cristo verso la tomba, La donna allo specchio e il Ritratto di uomo col guanto.
Nella Sala 5, da non perdere gli splendidi quadri del Mantegna con la Crocifissione e San Sebastiano.
Qui, protetta da una teca di vetro c’è “La Gioconda” di Leonardo da Vinci, che rappresenta uno dei motivi primari per una visita al Louvre, accompagnata da altre opere di Leonardo, “La Vergine delle Rocce”, “Sant’Anna con la Vergine e il Bambino” ed il ritratto de “La Belle Ferronnière”.
Passeggiando tra queste sale si incontrano anche gli splendidi Ritratti del Ghirlandaio e di Piero della Francesca.
La pittura fiamminga – Ala Richelieu – 2° piano
Nella Sala 10 dell’Ala Richelieu del Louvre, sono esposte alcuni capolavori di Brueghel il Giovane e Brueghel il Vecchio, Van Dick e Van Eick.
Al grande Rubens sono interamente dedicate le sala 18 e la 21.
La pittura olandese
Nella Sala 2, sempre al secondo piano Richelieu, da vedere è l’opera La nave dei folli di Bosch e nella Sala 13, il Battesimo di Cristo di Cornelis Van Haarlem.
Nelle Sale 31 e 32 sono concentrate le grandiose opere di Rembrandt e, nella Sala 38, da non lasciarsi sfuggire, i due piccoli, piccolissimi quadri di Jan Vermeer, quello della Ragazza dall’orecchino di perla, la Merlettaia e l’Astronomo, la cui visione vale la visita al Museo del Louvre.

La pittura francese – Ala Delon – 1° piano
Da ammirare nella loro grandiosa bellezza, nella Sala 75, i due quadri di Jacques-Louis David, Orazi e Curiazi e Le Sabine che, nei suoi 5,22 metri di larghezza, riproduce la battaglia tra Sabini e Romani dopo il famoso Ratto delle Sabine e Franà§ois Gérard, una Psyche turbata riceve il primo bacio da un Cupido per lei invisibile.
Nella Sala 77, un quadro di Antoine-Jean Gros, ritrae Napoleone che posa le mani su uno dei suoi soldati malati di peste durante la campagna in Siria del 1799.
In questa stessa sala il famoso La libertà guida il popolo, di Delacroix, che dipinge l’insurrezione popolare del 1830 contro la Restaurazione.
